Baking: Bread and Pastry

This is a course for beginners who want to cook better on a budget and learn the basics to become good home cooks. Each week we will highlight one area of cookery over 6 weeks but at the end of each evening you will have mastered at least one dish you can take home.
We will show you some basics that will get you started and can adapt for several kinds of meals and how one dish can be used in many different ways.
For our Baking week we will show you the rudiments of bread and pastry making. We will explain the methods and processes to make good dough and together we will make:
For this evening we will do the following:
- Make Shortcrust pastry
- Make quick flaky pastry
- Make a savoury pie of either cheese and onion or mince beef.
- Make white bread dough using fresh yeast and bake a loaf of bread for you to take home
