Private Cookery Classes
Book a class for up to 8 people for you and your family or friends.
(If you wish to accommodate more means we have to limit the cooking time and focus upon the meal. To see what we offer for private dining, click here)
The fixed Price of £600 (£700 for The Perfect Steak) includes a welcome drink or coffee and pastries to start. An introduction to the recipes being prepared then a cookery class takes place over 3 hours.
This involves time working individually, in pairs and groups cooking 2-3 dishes. The group then retire to the dining room to eat the results of your cooking efforts in our dining room with a glass of wine or beer. (Extra drinks can be purchased).
We offer two different time slots, but the exact date of the class is for you to choose.
Afternoon 2pm until 6pm 7 days a week
Evenings 6.30pm until 10.30pm 7 days a week
To fix the date, you need to email the school on book@kitchenschool.co.uk. You can email us to secure the date before purchasing the class.
The classes we offer are wide and various. All menus can become fully vegetarian or vegan (apart from Sausage and Steak classes)
Choose between:
Spanish Tapas - An introduction to Spanish cookery. Learn to make a typical Spanish Sofrito (quite different to the Italian of course). With this we make Patatas Bravas. We will also make delicious Croquettes, Pan con Tomate to accompany grilled sardines or meatballs.
Italian Pasta - Making Pasta from scratch. Mixing, kneading, resting and rolling. With our fresh egg dough, we will make spinach raviolis, tagliatelle with a Ragu, and maybe a Carbonara if your cooking skills are up to it! Dinner with Antipasta sharing board is a very filling meal.
The Mediterranean Diet - Real Mediterranean food is a peasant style blend of beans fresh vegetables, a little fish or meat and good oils. We will make some fresh and healthy dishes inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine. Expect to work with Aubergines, tomatoes, Barlotti beans, salads and lashings of extra virgin olive oil. Expect to learn very tasty vegetable dishes.
Vibrant Vegan - We will learn to work with new foods like Jackfruit, Tofu, Seitan. We will also prepare some simple vegetables dishes of course. For dessert we will make Aquafaba Merinques. We will look at nutrition and where we find replacements for meat and dairy. We will cook a delicious meal proving that we don't need meat to eat well.
Birmingham Street Food - We derive our inspiration for this class from our local food scene. Faggots & Peas Anyone? Actually we want to take you on a journey through Birmingham today. We will take in the Balti Triangle, visit China Town, then pop down to Handsworth for Jerk Chicken. The cookery session will be a diverse and delicious culinary street food tour of Birmingham's finest contemporary food.
The Perfect Steak - Learn how to cook a great steak, learn different tricks for testing steak's temperature. Learn to use salt properly for seasoning meat. We will make triple cooked chips and a classic Bernaise sauce.
The British Banger - Who loves Gastro Pub food? We will make our own pork & leek sausages (messy but funny) and serve with classic British favourites, mash, onion gravy and cauliflower cheese. A winter favourite.
The Taste Thesaurus - For the foodie who wants to understand their palate. We will have fun with blind tastings (yes we blindfold you), then we match different foods, following classic and Heston's more obscure pairings (cheese and chocolate?). We finish with a recipe-less taste test, a dish made by you which relies on your taste buds not the recipe.
Bread and Pizza - we love bread at Kitchen School. Join us for bread heaven. We will teach you how to make a loaf, enriched brioche and cook fantastic Pizza for supper.
Bread & Mindfulness We will be delivering lots of classes on this fascinating subject out in the community, but we decided to offer it to private groups. Working with a baker and therapist, we will develop mindfulness techniques via the meditative process of bread making. This class will focus more on the therapeutic benefits of cooking, rather than the pleasure of eating, through we will eat! Cooking is a slow process that allows us to switch off and focus on the now. We all need to learn to live in the present, which bread making insists we do.
If you have class in mind that you would like to do, which isn't listed here please suggest it by emailing us on jayne@kitchenschool.co.uk
